thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is a port city on the Gulf of the Aegean Sea. There is evidence of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman history remains, particularly around Ano Poli (the upper town). The iconic White Tower, on the waterfront is a symbol of the city because of its prominent position and impressive architecture. Much of the city’s center was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1917 and now has a modern European layout.

kavala

Rising like an amphitheater from the beautiful harbor up to a huge Byzantine fortress, Kavala is one the most attractive of Greece's largest cities. It doubled its size in 1922 when the Greeks from Asia Minor made their way there during the exchange of populations. The harbor is particularly picturesque with the countless brightly colored fishing vessels moored along its waterfront.
